Reunion Details

Wow!  I'll even say it backwards, !woW

Our reunion was GREAT!  Now, I know, I was on the committee, so I'm supposed to believe that.  However, I'm not only expressing my own opinion.  Many of the comments we heard at the banquet and e-mails received since have confirmed my opinion.  For instance, I received the following from Linda and Joe Clark:

We want to thank all of you for a wonderful 50th high school reunion.  We don’t know how to thank all the others (Mary Brannan, J. Butler, S. Graves, Gerry Persons, W. & Jana, Mary Brown, Charlotte Presley, Bobby Smallwood, Shelia Grimsley and Hollis Gray.  (She had addressed her e-mail to the others on the committee.) We had a wonderful time – the program, music, favors, decorations, Dinner/cruise, banquet and etc. was planned the greatest of ever!

Hopefully we can all get together before the next 5 years.  We have lost too many of our own!  Wish we still lived in Alabama so we could help all of you on the next reunion.

I have also received a letter from Nancy Vickery Johnson which I'll put on another page.  Click here to read it.

On the riverboat cruise Friday night 100 people had a great time watching the sights along the river and the glorious sunset, dancing to the tunes being played and sung by our entertainer and enjoying the great hors d'oeuvres.  Then, Saturday night, The banquet was awesome.  A total of about 185 attended that event.  We really appreciated the attendance of three of our faculty from 1957, Ed White and Mrs. White, Maxine Jordan Rotch, Mr. Rotch and Glen Yancey and Mrs. Yancey.

The food was wonderful and the entertainment was great.  Margaret Ann did an outstanding job arranging the fifty white roses as the centerpiece on the server table.

Sonny Gaston's son Ronnie took a bunch of pictures and video and is making a DVD for us.  He is also including pictures taken by others at the reunion events and the videos taken at earlier reunions.

The Sunday Morning memorial event was well attended also.  I was unable to attend that event but have heard nothing but favorable comments about it.  Thank you Wayne and Jana for hosting a meaningful event as you and the other attendees were able to pay respect to those of our classmates who have passed away over the years.

Hopefully our reunion will continue in future days.  Several have suggested we have some sort of reunion event annually, and I think that is a good idea.  Your reunion committee is still working and will probably have more news as the days go by.  Come back to the web site and keep up with plans.  I think you are going to be pleased.

We are still missing several of our classmates, so if you have information on those listed on the "Help Find Them" page,  please contact one of our Classmate Locators or e-mail  Webmaster.
Thanks.
